1 February each year marks Saint Brigid’s Day, in honour of Brigid of Kildare, patroness saint of Ireland. It is also Imbolc, which traditionally marks the beginning of spring.
In Ireland, starting this year, in February 2023, there is a new public holiday in celebration of Imbolc/Saint Brigid’s Day, held on the first Monday of February (or on the 1st if it’s a Friday).
